Flood Relief for 100 Families Nov 19, 2025

Facilitated by Khanh ( Hearts for Hue), we funded relief for 100 families in three flood-stricken villages yesterday. In each village, representatives of the Vietnam Women's Union selected the families with the most critical need. Priority is given to:

-Poor and near-poor families

-Families with elderly, children, or people with disabilities

-Households that suffered severe property damage

Khanh and I agreed that the best approach is to provide each family with funds with which to purchase essential needs. I confirmed that there are small stores operating on higher ground that are accessible to these villagers. Each family received 500,000 VND, which is about $20 USD. It's not a lot, but it'll help out tremendously in the short term. Here are items that would typically be purchased with the funds that we provided:

150,000 VND - 10 kg bag of rice

120,000 VND - 1 box noodles

 75,000 VND - 1 liter cooking oil & seasonings

25,000 VND - 1 kg sugar

30,000 VND - 1 liter fish sauce

100,000 VND - 1 kg seasoning powder

500,000 VND

We provided assistance to these villages yesterday:

Huong Tra (25 Families)

Dan Bien (25 Families)

Quang Dien (50 Families)

And later this week we will assist 50 households in Kim Tra village. Next week, as the water hopefully recedes, we'll begin chicken distribution. That will be a major step in folks getting back on track with a source of food and income.

I will provide photos and the names of the recipients of yesterday's distribution in the following posts.

Thanks to your caring support, we were able to react swiftly and dig right in. We're just getting started, folks. Helping & Healing.
